Dear Members,
I just had a meeting with Dr Nieves Muñoz-García, International Project Officer at the University of Jaén (Spain) about a R&I Project Info & Networking Event on the Olive Sector that will be held in Brussels on 29 June 2017.
The
event is organised by the University of Jaén, which is the main
producer of olive oil in the world. This Event will count on the advice
of EC representatives and will focus on the funding opportunities (H2020, PRIMA, LIFE, INTERREG, BBI, etc.) for the olive sector experts in the following areas: Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomass, Automation, Robotics, Economy, Ecology, Health, Process Engineering, etc.
The organisers are looking for partners from Cyprus and Greece (researchers, SMEs, public administrations, municipalities, universities and research institutes),
who could share their expertise, and present their projects related to
the olive oil. The allocated time is 3-5 min. without power point
presentation in order to allow time for networking.
Despite the short notice, and the fact that each participant should cover their own travel costs, this is an opportunity for the following reasons:
- The purpose of the event is to build a consortium of experts who will work and apply together for funding under different European programmes;
- Build a platform of olive oil experts
that will be strong to influence the policy at EU level (i.e. having
more topics on olive oil in the next framework programme for research
and innovation).
There will be a second meeting of experts after the publication of the new H2020 WPs in autumn. The meeting will be hosted by the University of Jaén, in Dec 2017 or beginning of 2018. For that meeting we
could eventually arrange to have covered the costs of your
participation through the Erasmus+ mobility scheme for staff exchange.
The
event will be attended by the Rector, the Vice Chancellor and 8
researchers from the University of Jaén, other universities, SMEs, and
city councils mainly from Spain and Italy.
Further information and the link to the registration form are available at http://ec.europa.eu/research/index.cfm?pg=events&eventcode=464984D5-EAC0-A4FC-08998BFD5B014C73.
Please,
have a look and let me know if you are interested in attending the
event that has a lot of potential for future cooperation. In case you
cannot attend, please inform me about any projects related to olive oil
sector, in which your organisation is involved, in order to facilitate
me in the promotion of your expertise.

Thank you very much for your consideration and response.
