Horizon 2020 WP 2018-2020 and Info Days & Brokerage Events

Dear Members,

The adoption and publication of the Horizon 2020 3-year work programme 2018-2020 (EUR 19 billion) are expected on 27 October 2017In order to provide potential participants with the currently expected main lines of the work programme, the European Commission has started pre-publishing drafts of the work programme parts at the following webpage: http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/horizon2020/en/what-work-programme.

However, please note that only the adopted work programme will have legal value since some elements might change in the meantime.

Attached is a presentation given by Dr Neville Reeve, Policy Officer, Dir A 3 Horizon 2020 Policy and Foresight, DG RTD, European Commission about the WP 2018-2010 and the focus areas.

The main characteristics of the WP 2018-2020 can be summarised as follows:

·         Deliver against H2020 objectives and incorporate the lessons from Interim evaluation (ie simplification, attention to success rates - two-stage calls);

·         Three Os (Open Innovation, Open Science, Open to the World);

·         Impact has been one the key principles in WPs 2018-2020;

·         Fewer calls and topics, but larger budgets

·         International cooperation – flagship activities across WPs

·         Market creating innovation - Supporting breakthrough / emerging innovation

·         Continuation of focus areas.

There will be 4 focus areas in WP 2018-2020:

1.     Building a low-carbon, climate resilient future

2.     Connecting economic and environmental gains – the Circular Economy

3.     Digitising and transforming European industry and services

4.     Boosting the effectiveness of the Security Union
