Horizon 2020 – Societal Challenges - “Sustainable Food Security” –
H2020-SFS-2018-2020
Objective and description
New
topics have been opened for submission of proposals under the Horizon
2020 Programme within the pillar “Societal Challenges”, under the work
programme “Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine,
maritime and inland water research and the bioeconomy”, within the call
for proposals “Sustainable Food Security” – H2020-SFS-2018-2020.
The Sustainable Food Security call is Horizon 2020's main contribution to research
and innovation in relation to Food and Nutrition Security in Europe and
beyond. Its commitment to sustainability implies that particular
attention is given to the interfaces between the economic, environmental
and social dimensions of food production. The call advocates for food
system approaches to tackle the inherent links between ecosystems, food
production, the food chain and consumer health and wellbeing.
The call for proposals refers to the following topics:
Eligible applicants
The topics LC-SFS-19-2018-2019,
SFS-01-2018-2019-2020, SFS-05-2018-2019-2020, SFS-06-2018-2020,
SFS-07-2018, SFS-08-2018-2019, SFS-11-2018-2019, SFS-16-2018,
SFS-27-2018, SFS-29-2018, SFS-30-2018-2019-2020, SFS-38-2018 refer to “Research and Innovation actions”. The Topics LC-SFS-03-2018, CE-SFS-25-2018 and DT-SFS-14-2018 refer to “Innovation Actions”. For both “Research and Innovation actions” as well as for “Innovation Actions” the eligible partners are: At least three legal entities established in a different Member State or associated country. All three legal entities shall be independent of each other.
The topics LC-SFS-15-2018, SFS-28-2018-2019-2020, SFS-32-2018, SFS-33-2018, refer to “Coordination and support actions”. For “Coordination and support actions”, the eligible partner could be at least one legal entity established in an EU Member State or Horizon 2020 associated country.

IA Innovation Actions: 70% (except for non-profit legal entities, where a rate of 100% applies).

Deadline for proposals’ submission
The deadline for topics CE-SFS-25-2018, DT-SFS-14-2018, LC-SFS-03-2018, LC-SFS-15-2018, SFS-28-2018-2019-2020, SFS-32-2018, SFS-33-2018 is 13 February 2018, 17:00 (Brussels local time).
The topic LC-SFS-19-2018-2019, SFS-01-2018-2019-2020, SFS-05-2018-2019-2020, SFS-06-2018-2020,
SFS-07-2018, SFS-08-2018-2019, SFS-11-2018-2019, SFS-16-2018,
SFS-27-2018, SFS-29-2018, SFS-30-2018-2019-2020, SFS-38-2018 has a two-stage deadline model. First deadline is 13 February 2018, 17:00 (Brussels local time). Second deadline for the proposals that passed the first-stage evaluation is 11 September 2018, 17:00 (Brussels local time).
For two-stage submission schemes,
you must submit a ‘short outline proposal’ for the first stage and you
will be invited to submit your ‘full proposal’ for the second stage, if
you pass the first-stage evaluation.
Applicants must submit their proposal electronically, following the link on the submission service.
