Program of Postgraduate Studies in “Wound / Ulcer Care & Treatment


The Nursing Department of the Faculty of Health and Caring Professions, of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens has organized and operated since the Academic Year 2014-15, the Postgraduate Program (MSc program) on "Wound / Ulcer Care and Treatment".
Purpose of the course
The purpose of this course is the promotion of the scientific knowledge and research, ensuring a high level studies and expertise so that its participants acquire a strong scientific background in the field of wounds and sore, acute and chronic.
Aim of the course
The aim of this course is to educate and refine young scientists in the broad and growing field of Wound / Ulcer Care and Treatment. The registered students come from diverse allied fields, a fact that enriches the mutual interaction and interdisciplinary discussion and approach on the subject.
Main Objectives of the program are:
  1. Providing knowledge on current developments in the management of acute and chronic wounds and ulcers.
  2. Development of research in the field of new technologies related to the healing of chronic wounds and ulcers.
  3. Development of scientists with the skills required for successful careers in the private, public and academic sector in the field of prevention, care and treatment of chronic wounds and ulcers.
  4. Development of scientists with the skills required in treating   stomies.
  5. Development of scientists to meet the training needs for continuous training in the workplace.
  6. Providing specialized knowledge and techniques in the future professionals of the wider area of health, in rapidly growing sectors of the academic field.
  7. Staffing of the Nursing Units   and especially intensive care units (trauma, burns) and Emergency   Department  by qualified scientists.
  8. Staffing of the Mobile Units for services in pre-hospital level.
  9. Contribution to the improvement of the health system.

The graduates of the course would be able to:
  • Plan and implement nursing care in patients with acute and chronic wounds and ulcers
  • Participate and develop research in the field of new technologies related to the healing of chronic wounds and ulcers
  • Organize and manage teams for wounds and ulcers caring and treatment at every level of organized health care system as in each level of administrative responsibility
  • Staff hospitals and outpatient structures of the public and private sector
The postgraduate course leads to the award of a postgraduate degree in “MSc in Wound / Ulcer Care and Treatment” from Technological Educational Institute TEI of Athens.
Admission to the Postgraduate Studies Program is regulated by Article 4 of the Official Gazette No.1137/5.05.14. Graduates of the fields of Nursing, Medicine, Obstetrics and Health Visitors of Greek and accredited Foreign Higher Education Institutions, are accepted to enroll in the program.
Course duration
The duration of the program is four academic semesters. The first, second and third semester include teaching (tutorials, clinical training tutorials, laboratory exercises and examination). In the fourth semester the master thesis is conducted. The thesis is written in Greek language with additional summary in English. For obtaining the “MSc in Wound / Ulcer Care and Treatment”, the attendance and the successful examination of mandatory and elective courses is required.
Ôhe annual number of participants is fixed,  maximum of (30) thirty graduate students per year. Graduate students with scholarships are admitted to the program further to the fixed annual number of participants.

Program of Postgraduate Studies in "Neurological Disorders-Evidence Based Practice"


The Nursing Department of Faculty of Health and Welfare of Technological Educational Institute TEI of Athens has organized and run since the academic year 2014-15 a postgraduate course on “Neurological Disorders-Evidence Based Practice”.
Purpose of the course
The purpose of the course is to educate and specialize new scientists in the broad and expanding areas of Neurological and Neurosurgery Science.
Aims of the course
Provision of specialized knowledge in health professionals and development of key staff members able to do research and educate in Health Care on the target for evidence based practice in neurological patients. 
The course is appropriate for health professionals with an experience in neurological health care and want to advance their clinical expertise, to develop their professional career and advance their knowledge in research and evidence based practice.
The graduates of the course would be able to:
  • Understand and solve the problems of neurological patients and their families. Would be able to work in Neuro and Neurosurgery units and rehabilitation centers.
  • To plan and implement nursing care in neuro patients and act autonomously with neuro patients and their families in the community (counseling), home care.
  • To plan and participate in research focused on advanced neurological care.
  • To work in position that requires high level of knowledge and skills in neurology.
Course duration for successfully award of the title is 4 academic semesters.
The postgraduate course leads to the award of a postgraduate degree in “Neurological Disorders-Evidence Based Practice” from Technological Educational Institute TEI of Athens.

Program of Postgraduate Studies in “Clinical and Pediatric Nursing-Research”


The Medical School of National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Nursing Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, organized and operated by the Academic Year 2006-07 Postgraduate Programme (MSc program) on the "Clinical and Pediatric Nursing-Research."

Its objective is not only the theoretical and practical training (clinical and laboratory) of physicians and other healthcare professionals, but also the development of research activity in the field.

The program has already established collaborations at both the educational and research levels with international hospitals. Each year the postgraduate students travel abroad to visit the cooperating hospitals. The registered students come from diverse allied fields, a fact that enriches the program.

The aim is to educate and refine young scientists in the broad and growing field of Medicine and Nursing Science.

The Graduate Program are accepted if they meet the conditions for successful completion of the course graduates as Medicine and Nursing and other Health Sciences dealing with children and adolescents from Universities and Technological Educational Institutes.

The duration of the program is four semesters. For obtaining the degree requirement is the attendance and successful examination of compulsory and elective courses. The courses include theoretical and clinical training tutorial. In the last semester, students develop thesis which presents before a three-member committee.

Program ïf Postgraduate Studies in “Intensive Care Unit - Nursing in Cardiology”



The Medical School of National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Nursing Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, organized and operated since the academic year 2004-05 Postgraduate Program (MSc program) on the “Intensive Care Unit - Nursing in Cardiology”.

The objectives of this Postgraduate Program are education, promotion of knowledge and research in Intensive Care Unit and in Nursing in Cardiology.

More specifically this Postgraduate Program aims to educate and specialize new scientists in this broad and expanding area of Medicine and Nursing science.

Graduates of this program can:                                                       
  • Staff Intensive care Units.
  • Staff Cardiac Care Units and cardiac departments in the public and private sector.
  • Be employed in posts that require high levels of knowledge and skills in the subject.
  • Prepare students for doctorate level studies.
  • Become specialized in this subject area.
The program leads to the award of the postgraduate degree in “Intensive Care Unit - Nursing in Cardiology”.

In this Postgraduate Program are accepted, if able to successfully attend the course, graduates of Medicine, Nursing from both the University and the Technological Educational Institute and other related fields from national or overseas accredited higher Educational Institutions.

The Medical School of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens in collaboration with Departments of Public Health and Community Health (former Department of Public Hygiene) and Nursing of Technological Educational Institute of Athens have organized and run a postgraduate Program (MSc program) with title: “Laboratory and Clinical Nursing Cardiology” since the academic year 2006-07. 

Objectives of the course

The aim of the course is the education, promotion of knowledge and research in Laboratory and Clinical Nursing Cardiology. More specifically the objective of the course is to educate and specialize new scientists in the broad and expanding area of Cardiological Nursing.

Graduates of this program can:

  • Staff Cardiac Departments in the public and private sector.
  • Support and maintain Clinical Nursing Cardiology and research.
  • Teach in nursing departments.
  • Work in relevant administrative posts.
  • Work in areas that demand a high level of expertise and knowledge in the field.

Postgraduate title

The postgraduate course leads to the award of a postgraduate degree in “Laboratory and Clinical Nursing Cardiology”.In this postgraduate program, the following categories of graduates are accepted, if they comply with the necessary requirements:

  • Graduates of Nursing from national Universities.
  • Graduates of Nursing from national TEIs according to article 12 of the 2916/2001 Law.
  • Graduates of equal departments of overseas accredited Educational Institutions.

Every postgraduate student on completion of the postgraduate course on “Laboratory and Clinical Nursing Cardiology” can continue at Doctoral level studies. Degrees are awarded by the Medical School of the University of Athens.
