Brief Curriculum Vitae

Born in Athens, Greece, 16 March 1973

Studied Architecture at the School of Architecture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Auth), then moved on to his Post - Graduate studies at the National Technical University in Athens (NTUA). He is currently pursuing his PhD (State Scholarship Foundation, 2003 - 2007) supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. D. Papalexopoulos at the NTUA on the subject of Theory of Architecture, and in particular on a theory of gesture as a mechanism of meaning for architecture.

He¢s been working as a freelance architect since 1998, undertaking a variety of projects both on his own and in collaboration with various firms and architectural practices in Greece; his work for SOS Children Villages has been distinguished among the "Eleven Leading Works in the Category 'Best Built Work of the Years 2009-2013'", 'Domes 2014 Awards", (jury: M.Lykoudis, J. Palasmaa, R. Meier). Since 2003 he has been teaching Interior Architecture and Design at the Decorative Arts Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens (TEI). Since then, he has supervised a variety of studios ranging from Interior Architecture and Design to the Art of Construction. In addition, he's supervised more than 20 diploma projects, the majority of which have been regarded and graded with high distinctions.

He has presented and published in a variety of internationally accredited peer reviewed publications and conferences, and he has taken part as a researcher in a number of Research Programs, for the Academy of Athens and the TEI of Athens.

His current line of research consists of tracing the notion of gesture as an aesthetic class inherent in action, subscribed equally in the context of a collective (e.g. as a «quasi objet») as well as a (semiotic) form on its own, subsequently, then, once attached to architectural discourse, reformulating an understanding of space and place (e.g. «le geste architectural»).

At the same time he is also conducting research on Architectural Competitions (KTH Stockholm 2008, Aalto Helsinki 2012) and he has been introduced to the idea of the Urmadic Univercity, design futures, sustainement, and the de-institutionalization of knowledge (Tony Fry, Paris 2012). Since 2014 he is a contributing writer for C3 Magazine, Korea.
