THEORY
Principles of reinforced concrete design. Design of structural systems, types of structural elements, linear and planar structural elements. Boundary conditions, actions, individual factors of safety, design values of permanent actions, design values of variable actions, combinations of actions in borderline situations durability and functionality, methods of calculating the internal forces. Design principles of reinforced concrete structures: Strength categories, stress-strain charts, flexural compressive, tensile, flexural tensile, biaxial strength of concrete. Deformation, modulus of elasticity, shrinkage during coagulation, creep, Poisson's ratio, thermal expansion factor, corrosion, carbonation, effect of chlorine ambient, conditions of environment. Reinforcement steel, stress-deformation diagrams, ductility of steel. The co-operation between concrete and steel: Stages of stress and flexing of reinforced structural elements, internal forces. Slabs: loading, width selection, methods of support. Cantilevers, simply supported, one or two ways overhanging. Ways of slab design, Marcus method, Czerny method. Continuous slabs. Slab reactions. Ribbed slabs. Three way slabs, two way spanning slabs.
