CE460. Building Technology (ects: 4) Building Technology deals with the components and details of buildings and small scale constructions, in order to be functional and provide the required level of quality and safety during and after the construction phases. In this context, excavation, foundation and perimeter drainage, the bearing body, the exterior surface, the interior space, the lower floor and the roofing, the principles of heat insulation, waterproofing and soundproofing, the types of coatings and the related materials, the stairs and the frames are examined. After successful attainment of this course, students will be able to: - Be aware of the construction phases of a building project. - Understand the structure and the individual components of a building project. - Be able to select the best ways of construction of individual architectural elements and building details. - Know the properties and possible combinations of basic building materials, in the context of architectural and construction needs.
