CE510. Reinforced Concrete Structures (ects: 6) This course aims to render the students able to cope with simple problems and applications concerning matters of reinforced concrete as far as it concerns designing and constructing various technical projects. Theoretical Part of the Course . Beams: beams rectangular cross-sectional area, ribbed slabs , control and dimensioning in decline and shearing to limit situation failure, reinforcement bend , beams with tall trunks, short cantilever . . Columns: Square column, perpendicular column and circular cross-section columns, control and dimensioning in decline and shearing in failure, limit situation, control to confinement. . Sub-poles under seismic action: uniaxial and two-uniaxial exhaustion . Walls . Principles of seismic design: equivalent static method . Double-beam(of the same height) double opposed bolted frame . Underground rectangular open channel that carries water . Boxed shaped supporting walls . Supporting walls with slant supports . Box culvert rectangular cross-section . Computational principles for important barrier made by non-reinforced concrete Laboratorial Part of the Course The laboratory includes static solution and calculation of reinforced planks, beams, columns and .it also includes control of the functional strength and seismic issues. Elaboration of the project: -A ground floor structure's full static and seismic control, dimensioning and designs.-A box culvert's dimensioning and design in the stage of implementation study. Exercise: Break of a cylindrical sample that has been taken from an existing structure. Purpose of the exercise is to investigate the concretes existing compressive strength. Educational excursions: There will be at least one educational excursion to construction sites, in order to inform the students about the type, the problems and the working progress generally.
