CE672. Technical Roadworks (ects: 6) Purpose of this course is for the student to learn about the technical projects that are required on road construction and the types of reinforced concrete bridges, so that he can be able to make the design, the planning and the construction of such projects. THEORY . Aspects of the final design of the road . Construction of embankments, props and boxed solid materials . Drainage and rainwater runoff : collecting shafts, visiting shafts, trenches(triangular and trapezoidal cross-sections),longitudinal profile of the settled trenches(sewer leverage, waterfalls) . Earth impulses (Coulomb method), declivities stability: supporting walls made of non-reinforced and reinforced concrete(static and anti-seismic control according to the Mononobe-Okabe hypothesis).Supporting walls with anchorages. Opposing supports with reinforced parts of the earth. . Drains: pipe drains. Slate-covered drains . Bridges: historical reference. Bridge categorization according to: usage, construction material, static model and the kind of means of transportation they serve. Bridges load (DIN 1073, EC1). Internal force and momentum calculation using Rusch's tables. Piers and mid-piers of the bridge (whole body piers, poles). Vertical slate-covered bridges with gaps made of reinforced concrete. Scaffoldings of the bridge. LABORATORY Elaboration of the project:It is about the original alignment of the mountainous road or the optimization of another existing road. The course goal is to make the students utilize the heretofore known to the subject of road construction combined with knowledge from other courses about constructing technical projects, as even the theoretical part so that the definitive study can be supported. The knowledge of this course are implemented to the design and the construction of the embankments, the required bracing of the vulnerable declivities, the total effluent of the rainwater through trenches and finally the design of at least two subteranean projects(pipe drains, slate-covered drains) With the completion of the project the student will have an integrated view about road construction and the various technical projects supporting it. Due to the abovementioned students will be able to take part in similar studies and supervisions of infrastructure projects. Educational excursions: There will be at least one educational excursion to construction sites of large road projects in order to inform the students about the type, the problems and the working progress generally.
