CSE551. Urban Planning (ects: 5) Urban Planning focuses on the fundamental knowledge concerning the town planning procedure, especially in Hellas. It covers topics like: a) introduction to the urban planning notion, the related land uses and the factors influencing the evolution of settlements, b) terminology, methodologies and institutions governing the practice of Hellenic towns planning, c) Identification and registration (mapping) of urban characteristics at the neighborhood level, d) substantial acquaintance of the urban planning legislation in Hellas, basic key provisions of the General Building Regulation included and e) acquisition of skills related to the dealing of urban planning projects. After this course, the expected learning outcomes for students are: - Understanding the basic urban planning terminology. - Be proficient on the urban planning projects, especially on "rymotomiko schedio". - Have applied knowledge of the conditions and restrictions of the related normative legal framework (Hellenic legislation). - Be aware of the guiding principles and key provisions of each level of the planning procedure. - Be able to participate (as surveying engineer or civil engineer) in multidisciplinary urban planning working groups.
