Call for Expressions of Interest

 “USTREAM national policy dialogue events 2018”

Objectives and description

The USTREAM project partners, the European University Association (EUA), Universities UK (UUK), the Irish University Association (IUA) and the Central European University (CEU) have published a Call for Expressions of Interest (CEoI) for organisation of  “USTREAM national policy dialogue events 2018”.

 

The overarching goals of the USTREAM project are to inform policy-making by developing recommendations to public authorities and funders, helping to enhance efficiency and effectiveness at institutional level in universities (focusing on regulatory frameworks and setting up supporting policies), to foster the dialogue between universities and public authorities on efficiency and effectiveness in university management and academic practice, to improve efficiency in university management through the transfer and dissemination of good practice examples and recommendations to university leaders and managers.

 

The national policy dialogue events are aimed at fostering a dialogue between relevant national stakeholders on efficiency and effectiveness of universities and the enabling reforms and support mechanisms. Three national policy dialogue events will be organised in different countries in Europe in the first half of 2018. These events will bring together relevant stakeholders in designing and implementing efficiency, effectiveness and value for money agendas for universities, ranging from university leadership to funding bodies and to responsible government ministries. The national policy dialogues will draw on best practice examples and expertise from across Europe collected by the USTREAM partners, while allowing the events to best suit the specific needs and conditions in each country.

 

Eligible participants - Minimum conditions

The partners welcome expressions of interest from the following institutions to host the national policy dialogue events and lead the follow-up activities to the event as part of their effort to contribute to the development of efficiency and effectiveness in the higher education context:

·         Individual universities

·         Groups of universities

·         University representative organisations (e.g. National rectors’ conferences)

·         Government ministries or agencies

·         Partnerships of the above institutions

 

Funding conditions and duration

The USTREAM partners will assist the selected host with the design of the programme, selection and invitation of speakers and participants, presentation of the latest findings on efficiency and effectiveness, including case studies from other systems, moderation and steering of discussions, as well as communication and visibility of the event at the European level. The applicant would need to provide the appropriate venue and equipment for the workshop.

 

The total budget will be allocated according to national costs and expenditures in contact with the organising committee.

Deadline of proposals' submission

The deadline for the submission of application is 30 September 2017.

 

The expression of interest should include a short description (up to one page) referring to the questions provided in the accompanying expression of interest form.
