Horizon 2020 – Excellence Science – “CALL: FET OPEN – Novel Ideas for Radically New Technologies” - H2020-FETOPEN-2018-2020
Objective and description
The
call for proposals “FET OPEN – Novel Ideas for Radically New
Technologies”, (call identifier: H2020-FETOPEN-2018-2020), has been
opened for submission of proposals under the Horizon 2020 Programme
within the pillar “Excellent Science”, Future and Emerging Technologies.
The FET-Open call is a part of the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot. It
provides the EIC with a bold exploratory engine that shatters the
frontiers of current thinking. All FET-Open projects, even if far from
today's markets, are full of great ideas to inspire the entrepreneurial
minds that the EIC attracts.
FET Open aims to establish
European leadership in the early exploration of future technologies. It
looks for opportunities of long-term benefit for citizens, the economy
and society. It aims to mobilise Europe's most creative and forward
thinking researchers from all disciplines to work together and explore
what may become the leading technology paradigms of the future.
Proposals are invited against the following topics:
(RIA Research and Innovation action)
Its
challenge is to lay the foundations for radically new future
technologies of any kind from visionary interdisciplinary
collaborations that dissolve the traditional boundaries between sciences
and disciplines, including the social sciences and humanities.
(CSA Coordination and support action)
The
topic aims at promoting excellent collaborative research and innovation
on future and emerging technologies to secure and renew the basis for
future European competitiveness and growth.
(CSA Coordination and support action)
This topic aims at turning results from FET-funded projects into genuine societal or economic innovations.
Eligible applicants
For “CSA Coordination and support actions” the eligible partners are: at least one legal entity established in an EU Member State or Horizon 2020 associated country.
For “RIA Research and Innovation actions” the eligible partners are: at least three legal entities.
Each of the three must be established in a different EU Member State or
Horizon 2020 associated country. All three legal entities must be
independent of each other.
Budget
RIA Research and Innovation action: EUR 181.2 million
The
Commission considers that proposals requesting a contribution from the
EU of up to EUR 3 million would allow this specific challenge to be
addressed appropriately.
CSA Coordination and support action: EUR 2 million
The
Commission considers that proposals requesting a contribution from the
EU of up to EUR 0.5 million (and up to 0.7 million for a.) would allow
this specific challenge to be addressed appropriately.
CSA Coordination and support action: EUR 2.5 million
The
Commission considers that proposals for actions no longer than 18
months and requesting a contribution from the EU of up to EUR 0.1
million would allow this specific challenge to be addressed
appropriately.
