Panagiotis Kontaxis received the Dipl. Degree in Energy Engineering from the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Energy Technology Department, in 1996, the Dipl. Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 2003 and the M.Sc. Dipl. Degree in Energy Production and Management from the National Technical University of Athens in 2004. His research interests include artificial lighting, daylighting, ccd sensors, energy saving, artificial neural networks and electrical drive systems. He has participated in a number of research projects (from 1998-now) at NTUA (Lighting Laboratory and High Voltage Laboratory) and the Technological Institute of Athens (Electric Machines and Drive Systems Laboratory) in the fields of artificial lighting, natural lighting, energy saving, power systems etc. During the years 1997-1998 he served his military service in the Air Force on the specialty of electrical installations. He has cooperated as a freelancer electrical engineer with several private companies and institutions on energy-saving projects, lighting projects, energy audits, technical and economic evaluation of investment projects, study and writing prescriptions for carrying out photometric inspections and energy audits, supervision and certification of technical projects. From June 2010, he is Lecturer at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Energy Technology department and teaches courses such as electrical machinery, power electronics, drives, electrical installations and power systems. Furthermore he is a PhD candidate at the Lighting Laboratory, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens.
