Undergraduate studies

Education aims at creating a global knowledge framework through the acquisition of theoretical knowledge, the development of specific skills and the accumulation of practical experience. It also seeks to develop scientific methods to resolve conservation issues, with a scholarly approach to the object based on scientific documentation and critical analysis of the results.

Theoretical training of the conservators includes the following subjects:
  • History of art and civilization
  • Documentation and research methods
  • Conservation theory
  • Conservation principles and ethics
  • Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
  • Technology of Materials
  • Computers theory

Compulsory laboratory practice and internship form an essential part of the curriculum, for the practical training of the students. Graduation requires undertaking and completing a dissertation. Throughout the training of the future conservators, next to the acquisition of necessary skills, great emphasis is given to the development and enhancement of perception of scientific, technical, historical and aesthetic parameters.
