COURSE DESCRIPTION The historical value and the evolution of yarns and textiles over the centuries, from 7000 BC up to now, with particular emphasis on Greek textile history. The historical development of textile industry in Greece and worldwide, and its economic importance for Greece and the EU. Traditional colors, fabrics, yarns and techniques. Modern fabrics, high-tech fabrics, man-made fibres, micro-fibres, nano-textiles, modern chemical dyes, and their applications. Value and uses of fabrics and textiles. Textile design methodology and applications. Traditional techniques and their modern applications. 2D, 3D textile artworks, implying traditional techniques.
