AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
The course aims to familiarize students with the traditional and modern fabric decoration techniques in all forms, techniques, colors and applications, so that they can be able to propose textile design and products, applying traditional and modern technology.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The historical value and the evolution of yarns and textiles over the centuries, from 7000 BC up to now, with particular emphasis on Greek textile history.
The historical development of textile industry in Greece and worldwide, and its economic importance for Greece and the EU. Traditional colors, fabrics, yarns and techniques. Modern fabrics, high-tech fabrics, man-made fibres, micro-fibres, nano-textiles, modern chemical dyes, and their applications. Value and uses of fabrics and textiles. Textile design methodology and applications. Traditional techniques and their modern applications. 2D, 3D textile artworks, implying traditional techniques.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Students will acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in relation to traditional and modern textile design methodology and applications.
