AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
To provide students with knowledge, understanding and skills required to solve Interior Architecture problems in an orderly and creative manner.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Theory
A series of lectures covering the following topics: The concept of inhabitation, History and typology of residence, Structure and function of residential spaces, Ergonomy, Structural elements, Installations, Fixed and portable equipment, Space-User relationship, Function - Form - Manufacturing - Technology relationship, Materials, Textures, Colors.
An individual project; each student undertakes to analyze and present his/her own residence (ground plan, users, lifestyle and space requirements for each user, identification of functional and aesthetic challenges).

Workshop
A study on the design of a small-scale residence in a given environmental shell, inspired by a work of art. Each student deals with the design of such a residence, bearing the role of its user and its designer at the same time. The residence has to include all functional spaces necessary for the fulfillment of the student's needs.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

This course is designed to equip the students with the following elements:
Systematic approach of the inhabitation problem and introduction to the design process for interior spaces.
Introduction to the basic concepts of Interior Architecture and familiarization with the structural and functional elements that define space.
In-depth understanding of human needs and their association with residential spaces.
Stimulation of the students; ability for critical evaluation of possible solutions.
Development of self-creativity and ingenuity.
