AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
Course on Art History and History of Architecture, with common grading system. The aim is to conceptualize Architecture and Art as an inseparable unity which expresses the culture of each historical period. It intends to familiarize students with the techniques of attributing properties to space.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
1. Initially, basic aesthetic theories are shown and discussed, analyzing the relations between space, man and form, and the ways in which meaning is attributed to space: Empathy, the theory of the unfinished in art, the theory of Symbols, Semiotics, the theory of shapes, the theory of color, the Gestalt theory.
2. In addition, historical periods are examined, in which forms are put and considered into the whole socio-cultural environment in order to be interpreted as imprints of the collective goals of each society. The following periods are examined: Prehistory, Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Eastern Roman period (Byzantium), the Romanesque and the Gothic period.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
The students' ability to interprete forms of Architecture and other forms of Art and explore their role in the sociocultural scene of each period.
