Student Evaluation

Students are evaluated in theoretical courses or in the theoretical part of combined courses at the end each semester by means of written or oral examinations. In the case of two consecutive failed examination attempts in a compulsory pre-requisite course, students may request a review by a committee consisting of three members of the faculty: the course professor and two other members of Academic Staff who are associated with the course.

Students may be evaluated during the semester by means of a midterm test or assignment, at the discretion of the professor.

Grading of students in laboratory courses or in the laboratory parts of combined courses depends on the level of participation and performance of the student in laboratory exercises.

The theoretical and laboratory parts of a combined course form independent parts of a whole course. Students may attend either the full combined course or one part of it. However, successful completion of a combined course implies that the student has passed both the theoretical and the laboratory parts of the course.

Examination periods

Written and oral examinations for theoretical courses or theoretical parts of combined courses take place at the end of each semester. There are two examination periods which consist of two weeks each. The start and end dates of the examination periods are set by the General Assembly of TEI-A, according to the academic calendar.
