Facilities

The Department of Library Science and Information Systems has two classrooms and five laboratories to support its educational purposes and its laboratory workshop applications. All these facilities have internet connection and a video projection system.

Two of the laboratories (with seating capacity of 35 and 15 respectively) exclusively support technological applications and they have a network of computers, scanners and printers. The other three laboratories have similar equipment which is used for theoretical teaching and for laboratory exercises. In addition, one classroom has 10 computers and a multi-function printer/scanner/photocopier for students to work on their projects.

The classes and laboratories are also supported by a collection of specialized printed resources, as well as library software programs and tools, such as LC Subject Headings, Dewey online, Dspace, Coha, ABEKT, thesaurus programs, etc.

For its teaching and research, the department relies on the TEI-A infrastructure and, in particular, on:

The instituteĒs Library, which contains printed and electronic material relevant to topics taught in the Department and which supports student theses and the research activities of the Academic Staff. The library is connected to the Academic Libraries Network of the country and provides access to electronic journals within the consortium. The library is a facility where the DepartmentĒs students can gain practical experience throughout the course of their studies;

The Printing Unit of the Institute which reproduces educational notes and aids which are distributed to students;

The Auditoriums where Department events are held, primarily lectures by prominent Greek and foreign academic experts.
