Professional Rights

The graduates of the Department are granted specific professional rights, as stipulated under Presidential Decree 385/16-6-1980, according to which the object of their work is the study, research and application of modern technology in the organization and operation of all types of libraries. Part of their duties is to “search for information and facilitate users through data banks and databases both nationally and internationally”. The fact that the Presidential Decree was issued thirty years ago makes the need for its re-adaptation and broadening in line with current circumstances an imperative. However, broadening the fields of study in the Department is supported by reference to the statement that “graduates of the Department exercise any other activity which is not explicitly referred to above and which arises from developments in the field of Library and Information Science".
