COURSE TYPE: Laboratory
COURSE CATEGORY: Compulsory
HOURS PER WEEK: 4
ECTS: 6
TYPICAL SEMESTER: 3rd

AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
The main objective of this course is to involve the students into the study and analysis of 3-Dimensional space, the subsequent development of their skills with the use of colour on surfaces, volumes and in perspectives.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Throughout this studio-based workshop of the 3rd semester, which has a duration of 4 hours per week, students are encouraged to focus on design and colour representations, but also on the re-composition of architectural elements in interior spaces with the use of the collage technique, and by adding elements of line and colour. Furthermore, students are requested to develop spaces into 2-Dimensional visual compositions and into 3-Dimensional small scale models.
During the projects, scheduled for this semester, the students are encouraged to experiment with a combination and mixture of various media and techniques, such as acrylics and cardboard structures. They are also introduced to image editing techniques with the use of the programme Adobe Photoshop.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

An essential part of this course is the understanding of the fundamental principles involved in the creation of a composition and the importance found in the use of 2-Dimensional composition as a subject of reference, to generate a 3-Dimensional composition.
